Joel Sonntag was born on December 31st in Milwaukee, WI. He attended Loving Shepherd Lutheran Grade School and Wisconsin Lutheran High School, both in Milwaukee, before graduating from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. He met his wife, Elizabeth, at MLC and got married in 2017. His first assignment was to Deltona Beach, Florida for 3 years as he participated in the Principal Training Program. Additionally, he taught grades 6-8 while there. He accepted a call to St. Matthew's in Stoddard, WI, where he taught grades 6-8, was the principal, athletic and technology director, and coached. 

Mr. Sonntag has three children, Maria, Isaiah, and Jonah. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, watching movies, outdoor activities, yard work, and playing with his children.

Mr. Sonntag's favorite bible passage is Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
